Oil Paint on panel, ~2' x 4' with pallet knife. (originally titled: Election Night 2012)
My state of mind while composing the initial phase of the painting was very angry. I had become fed up with life: unemployment, relationships, politics. By the end of the 3 hour painting session, I felt much more positive.
This painting is notable for me as a re-discovering of my own compositional style in a very free form technique that took much less time than in the past. It is a breakthrough painting for me. Everything will be different, better now.
This current photo has some glare from my lighting setup. I will attempt to compensate and photo again soon.
It's cool, I see that you also find the beauty in blue-red-yellow colour scheme - it's so powerfull! It's like all your angryness was burnt by the fire you painted Hope you still feel positive!
Actually, there's no blue in this, just a little purple. I think it might be the glare off the glossy sections that seem blue in this photo. I've been applying some cold wax medium to tone that down.
